Hazard Heresy select 3 in expansion draft, including Moss Greenside and Tiltit Leapin
The Hazard Heresy made their first official additions to the roster on Saturday morning in the Blitz Expansion Draft. Existing teams are allowed three draft picks in the normal draft while the new franchises are allowed three picks in the expansion draft and nine in the regular draft. Here is the full list of players they selected:
- Tiltit Leapin
- Melvin Meadowprance
- Moss Greenside
The most memorable name for Blitz fans is Tiltit, who played for the Montreal Havoc during Season 1 and Season 2. Since then, he’s bounced around several minor league teams.
Moss Greenside should also be a familiar name to Blitz fans. He played for the Gatlinberg Goodguys in Season 3, where carved out a role for himself before getting injured and eventually cut by the team. He went on overcome his injury but failed to be resigned by the Goodguys.
Here are a few quick notes about the players selected by the Heresy:
- Moss Greenside played 7 games last season, scoring 1 touchdown, rushing for 114 yards, completing 2 passes and making a catch on the offensive side of the ball. On defense he tackled 14 players, injured two, and caused 1 casualty. No longer impeded by injury he is expected to make a huge impact for the Heresy on both sides of the ball.
- Melvin Meadowprance looks to be an outstanding Rookie of the Year prospect.
- Tiltit Leapin has played a massive 15 games in the league. In that time he scored 7 touchdowns, averaging just under 1 TD ever other game. Offensively, he rushed for 144 yards, made 4 passes for 24 yards and caught 3 passes. Defensively he tackled 47, injured 13, knocked out 3 and caused 4 casualties in his career thus far. Tiltit is an impact player and the Heresy have placed a great deal of trust in their star wardancer.
The important thing to keep in mind is there’s no guarantee any of these players will live up to their hype or even start for the team come season kickoff. As the team details in their press release, the draft merely ensures the Heresy have these players at the ready when they need them during the season.
In addition to these players, the Heresy look to add at least ten other players to their roster during the upcoming draft. Can they continue to pick stars, or will they fall short…time will tell.
The Goodguys wish Moss a great season and are thrilled to see that he made a full recovery in the off season. He will truly be an asset to the Heresy and we wish him nothing but success in the future. We look forward to seeing him return to our stadium and meeting him on the pitch.
