An official letter from the Appalachian Paws
This past week when the draft started and training camps opened. This is always the most optimistic time of year for our fans, and for all teams. When no picks where sent in for the Paws someone was sent to the stadium to check on the welfare of the longtime Coach and GM Rez. Unfortunately, Coach Rez was found in his office unconscious. The team apothecary was able to bring him back and he is in recovery in the stadiums medical wing. Evidence found in Rez’s office points to him overdosing on turkey legs.
This news turned the Paws world upside down; we are navigating it carefully, thoughtfully and in partnership with the MML with a shared goal of fielding and competing this season. This process has not been easy, turkey grease addiction is and will continue to present a major challenge to nearly every area of Union life. Every step of the way, our focus has been on the safety of players, coaches, personnel, fans and our communities. Our planning has followed the lead of medical experts and public health officials, including the APO union, the Blitz Task Force, and state health officials. As we have developed our roster for the return to Blood Bowl, safety continues to be our first priority; that commitment will remain paramount as players return to the field. Players and coaches will be tested weekly for turkey grease levels.
The Paws will not look like other years. Players and coaches will be in better shape. We expect them to be stronger and more athletic. Everyone in the team environment must follow rigorous health and safety protocols to keep themselves and each other safe from Turkey Grease Over Dose. When there is a positive test, strict regulations will be enforced to isolate and care for that individual and to contain the virus before it spreads. Even the sideline will look different. And, state and local health guidelines will help determine whether fans will be able to purchase the world famous “Double Dipped gravy n’ greased deep fried turkey drumstick” at the games. These adjustments are necessary to reduce the risk for everyone involved. Until Coach and GM Rez is able to recover, the Paws have brought in More_Shots to fill in as interim coach.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Coach Rez in this very trying time, we hope the team can rally and provide some much-needed optimism in his life.
